Topics in the Dead Sea Scrolls

This course will be a broad introduction to the Jewish literature found in the caves around Qumran. Areas of special focus will be: The types of writings discovered among the Scrolls, the Jewish community responsible for keeping the Qumran librry, and the relationship of the Scrolls to the wider world of ancient Judaism, including nascent Christianity and early Rabbinic Judaism.
