*This colloquium talk doubles as a session of Dr. Hollander’s graduate seminar “Theories of Judaism and Jewishness.” 

In preparation, students in the seminar are reading two essays: Eric Santner, “Beyond Apologetics: Franz Rosenzweig’s ‘Queer Theory’ of Anti-Semitism” (2006); andJanet Jakobsen, “Queers Are Like Jews, Aren’t They?
